A View to a Kill

A View to a Kill

Today was our final morning in The Mara.  We flew back to Nairobi and then a four hour drive to Amboseli National Park, our camp for the next two nights.  However, we were able to squeeze one more game drive in as we left the park.

We had been so lucky so far in seeing such a wide variety of animals these past few days, including getting to see all of the Big Five.  But The Mara was saving its best until last.  As we drove through the reserve towards the airport, we got to see the aftermath of a kill by a pride of lions.  The kill had happened about an hour before we arrived.  As we got closer, we realized the pride had killed not just one Eland, but two.  The first had already been stripped clean of the meat by the adults, but the cubs were still feasting on the second.  What a great way to end our visit in the Maasai Mara.

The rest of the day was spent flying back to Nairobi and then by Land Cruiser to Amboseli.
